Cary Williams-Nunez is co-founder of PRIME TIME BOXING, INC., founded over 10 years ago and Prime Time Boxing Franchise Inc. Also created by Cary is Prime Time Boxing Club, a non-profit organization that offers scholarship programs to pay for the training, equipment and travel expense of disadvantaged children. Her and her boxing programs have been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX as well as in national publications such as Shape, Energy, Fitness, Entrepreneur, Inc., USA Today and The New York Times. Cary has over 20 years experience in the boxing and fitness industry. Cary’s belief is that in order to create a program for competition in any sport you must have at least competed to understand the game completely. In her last fight Cary won The Pacific Northwest Women’s Open Tournament in the 125 pound division. Cary has been featured in FHM, Shape, Energy, Oxygen, Best Body, Men’s Fitness, Energy, Fitness and Entrepreneur magazines. She also graced the cover of Muscle & Fitness HERS. Cary has been a fitness columnist for the Sacramento Bee and has been a guest on many radio shows and television news shows as a boxing and fitness expert. Cary appeared on the popular NBC reality show, Fear Factor as a contestant during the third season. Cary has spoken to many schools and was even asked by the CEO of Nugget Marget to be their motivational speaker for their big 2006 4th quarter meeting. She has been invited as a speaker for the 20/30 Club, the Lions Club, several Rotary Clubs and many more. Tenacious and determined, one might say. Cary was raised solely by her father. When Cary was 14 her mother passed away and she ended up leaving home at age 15. After 6 months of staying with friends families, she made enough money working that she was able to share a small apartment with roommates. Her last 2 years of high school she worked to pay her bills and ended up graduating with a 4.0 GPA. The following semester she was enrolled at California State University, Sacramento where she again worked her way through school with no outside financial assistance. With no business experience or an MBA, Cary taught herself about the business world, wrote a business plan and was able to land a small business loan purely on her presentation to the bank. In the boxing world, Cary is a Level IV Olympic Coach and is the 3rd woman in the United States to be certified as an Olympic Boxing coach. Cary is also certified through the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado as an Elite Boxing Coach and selected to certify trainers as a LEVEL I and Level II USA Boxing coaches. She has been certifying boxing coaches for USA Boxing since 2001. There are many men in line ahead of her to be selected to coach at the Olympic Games, but maybe you will see her at the 2012 Games. Cary was recognized by The California Legislature along with Brandy Chastain and several other women in sports for her contribution and impact on girls sports. Cary co-created and co-hosted “Boxing 101” Boxing Camp Workout and “Additional Fundamentals”, unique boxing instructional and workout DVDs. Cary also obtained her professional boxing promoter licensed with the State of California. One of only a few women in the world to be a boxing promoter. Now Cary is a spokesperson for Everlast Worldwide. In her short time so far working with Everlast, she has done demonstrations at trade shows such as Magic and the SGMA in Las Vegas. Under Everlast, she also created a boxing class format for 24 Hour group fitness called Everlast ShadowBox. Community involvement includes creating the annual Black Tie & Boxing Benefit that not only benefits the non-profit Prime Time Boxing Club training scholarship program, but also has benefited Susan G. Komen for the Cure and other foundations. Prime Time Boxing now has 2 corporate locations and one franchise in Folsom, CA. All of the above couldn’t have been done without Cary’s husband, Angelo Nunez.
