    Auntie was born on the home farm at Marquette, MB on September 14, 1905, the oldest child of Reginald and Lilian Wilkes.She attended Poplar Heights School and then took high school and Normal School in Winnipeg.She taught school in rural Manitoba for seven years prior to enrolling in the Winnipeg Central Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1935.She worked at the Brandon Hospital for Mental Diseases for 10 years and then joined the staff of the Selkirk Hospital for Mental Diseases as their first social welfare worker and continued there until her retirement in 1970.In 1956, she married Jonny and they had 18 happy years together, enjoying their home in Selkirk, cottage on the Brokenhead River at Beausejour and many memorable vacations.In 1975, she moved to the Courts of St. James, Winnipeg and remained there until 1999 when she moved to Oakview Place, Winnipeg.She was deeply committed to her family and friends and took a great interest in the lives of her nieces and nephews and their children.
