In other news, Shadyside Board of Public Affairs President Chuck Wiley said the public needs to be aware of calls being made to test residents water are not coming from the village's water department.

According to Wiley, the callers want to come to the homes after the water department has finished working.Wiley said he believes the calls are coming from a water treatment vendor who wants to sell residents a purification system.

Wiley, who served on Shadyside Council for eight years and presently is a member of the village's Board of Public Affairs, has confirmed he will be seeking the chairmanship post.

His eligibility to run for the office was ensured at the primary election when he was elected a committeeman from Precinct 54 in Shadyside.

According to Trustee Chuck Wiley, work crews will be conducting the tests on Sept. 5, 6, 7 and 10 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. as part of the village's infrastructure improvement plans.

The purpose of the testing is to detect breaks and defects in the sewer system.

Wiley also said that it is unlikely smoke will enter anyone's home, unless they have a defect in their plumbing or if drain traps are dried-up.

Council Member Chuck Wiley brought up the topic of the loop, first questioning who made the decision why it was still closed from dusk to dawn and who made the decision.
