Michael Wigen, head of Wynndel Box and Lumber Co., a small B.C. company that wasn't invited to the meeting, said he doubted anything would change as a result of the exchange.
"The deal is not a good deal," he said, adding a meeting wouldn't change his views.
In a note to Emerson, to be hand-delivered at the meeting by another chief executive, Wigen added: "The current softwood suit into which you have zoned yourself and your government will not wear well down the road a few months.

"There's a lot of people that want to take deal now because they're so desperate for the money," said Wigen, whose company must drop two trade cases for the deal to be implemented.
