  Susan Chrysler White, who spent much of her childhood in Spain, travels frequently to the central Mexican city of San Miguel de Allende, where her parents live.Before she became a professor of painting and drawing at the University of Iowa in 2000, she taught at New York's Cooper Union School of Art, Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University and the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome.
