Susan Page White is a partner in Dickstein Shapiro's Insurance Coverage Practice.Ms. White conducts an active trial practice, representing clients in complex insurance coverage matters, including bad faith, and other commercial and contract litigation matters.She represents corporations, including manufacturers, motion picture studios and other entertainment companies, energy companies, telecommunication companies, software companies, Internet companies, hospitals, aerospace companies, and individuals, in a wide variety of insurance coverage matters.She also provides insurance risk management advice to her clients with respect to policy procurement and renewals.
AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
Ms. White has experience handling and resolving insurance coverage matters for her clients involving a wide range of issues in numerous jurisdictions.Specializing in insurance recovery since 1990, she has been at the forefront of new developments in insurance coverage, including:
Directors & Officers liability claims, including issues that have arisen after the enactment of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, and issues in connection with an increase in corporate restatements;Fiduciary and Employee Benefit liability claims, including coverage for claims involving company welfare and pension plans; andEmployment Practices liability claims, including claims for coverage for wage and hour class actions.
Ms. White also focuses on coverage for property and other first-party losses and third-party liabilities, including advertising liabilities; business interruption and extra expense claims; errors and omission claims, copyright, patent, and trademark infringement; crime and fidelity losses; environmental and pollution disputes; products liability; workers' compensation claims; and retrospective premium and self-insured retention disputes.
Ms. White also has represented insurance brokers and appraisers in a wide variety of matters relating to insurance coverage and general litigation.Moreover, she has first- and second-chaired several jury trials and arbitrations.She also has obtained substantial recoveries for her insured clients in arbitrations and mediations against their insurers regarding the reasonableness of attorneys' fees and costs.
Furthermore, Ms. White also represents insureds in connection with risk management issues, including insurance audits, policy negotiations, reviews, and renewals.She handles substantial commercial and entertainment litigation disputes, including breach of contract, fiduciary duty and fraud claims, negligence and strict liability claims, and real estate disputes.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Ms. White is admitted to practice in California, and before the U.S. District Court for the Central and Northern Districts of California.She is a member of the California Bar Association; the American Bar Association, including the ABA's Committee on Insurance Coverage Litigation; the Los Angeles County Bar Association; and the Litigation and Labor & Employment Law sections of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Ms. White began her career as an associate at Lillick & McHose (currently Pillsbury Winthrop) where she worked from 1988 to 1990.From 1990 to 2000, she was an attorney with Troop Steuber Pasich Reddick & Tobey, LLP, first as an associate from 1990 to 1995, and then as a principal from 1996 until 2000.She joined Howrey Simon Arnold & White, LLP in 2001, and was a partner in the Commercial Trial Group and served on the Women's Marketing Committee.
EDUCATION
Ms. White received her B.A. from Wheaton College (1983), and her J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, cum laude, and Order of the Coif (1988).
