Peter F. White, M.D. of Biopsy Diagnostics honored with Civitas Community Stewardship Award
(Beaufort, SC) - Dr. Peter White, founder of Biopsy Diagnostics (BxDx), was honored with the Community Stewardship Award on April 20th at the 2006 Civitas Awards ceremony hosted by the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.
At the annual awards ceremony, held on Dataw Island, 10 winners were recognized for their excellence, active participation and service within the community.Dr. White was given the Community Stewardship Award, which recognizes a business that voluntarily supports non-profit and community service organizations, providing much needed assistance to individuals throughout the region.Dr. White was awarded this honor, in part, for his work with Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), a non-profit organization which offers no cost medical services to low-income and indigent residents of Hilton Head Island.Biopsy Diagnostics extends $20,000 worth of free biopsy services to VIM each year.Dr. White has placed a high priority on quality medical care for the economically needy and has extended his services through VIM to the citizens of the Low Country since Biopsy Diagnostic's inception in 2003.He has been honored with the Circle of Caring Community Service award from VIM for the last two years.
Dr. White, Medical Director at BxDx, is the lab's CEO and President.He is board certified in dermatopathology as well as anatomic and clinical pathology.Dr. White graduated from Johns Hopkins University Medical School.He did his residency at Yale University and completed fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Duke University.
Dr. White worked with a large pathology group for a number of years before deciding to open his own lab.He sought to create a lab founded on passion for the patient, efficiency, and accuracy.
