White was a member of Hillcrest High School's track and field team, which earned him a scholarship to Jacksonville University in 1983.By 1989 he was named to the Canadian National Elite triathalon squad, winning the Royal LePage Canadian Triathalon series.He was the top Canadian at the 1992 Iron Man Triathalon, retiring from the sport in 1998.He is currently the triathalon representative on the Canadian Olympic Association Athlete's Council and is also on the executive of Triathalon New Brunswick.
