ONEONTA - Joseph Jay White , 44 , went to be with Jesus on Nov. 3 , 2001.

Joe was a wonderful friend to so many.He devoted his life to helping others , serving as a pastor , social worker , guidance counselor , husband and dad.

His sense of humor kept all of us laughing and lit up any room he was in.He was like a dad to all the kids who filled the house , and he loved them.Joe loved God deeply and blessed us with his faith.

He is survived by his wife , Gail White ; three daughters at , Sarah , Kirsten and Emily ; his mother , Irene White of East Meredith ; his brother and sister-in-law , Kevin and Debby White of South Kortright ; his sister , Laura Lee Peterson of Ivoryton , Conn. ; his mother and father-in-law , Howard and Alice Nichols of Bloomville ; sisters and brothers-in-law , Gwen and Paul Deysenroth of Bloomville and Maria and Peter Deysenroth of Cooperstown ; nine nephews , Devin , Dusty , Dana , Paul , Daniel , Dennis , Kyle , Kelvin and Erik ; and his beloved Auntie Anne and Uncle Fred next door.

There will be a celebration of Joe's life at the South Kortright Community Church this morning , Monday , Nov. 5 , 2001 , at 11 a.m. , with the Rev. Karen Porto officiating.All are welcome.

A committal service and burial will follow at the East Meredith Cemetery.
