Jenny credits her father Jim, her car owner/crew chief, for getting her interested in racing at an early age.

"It just started as a father-daughter thing," said Jim White, owner of AJ's Import Garage."Mechanically, it was a challenge for me, and the driving part was a challenge for her.It just evolved from there."

She raced quarter midgets until age 16, then switched over to Late Models, starting in a series at Lebanon, Mo.

"I'm a really competitive person, and I guess that's the biggest thing," White said."I love the competition.It's just exciting, a fast-paced sport."

The Whites dream of someday making it to auto racing's big time, but they know that that day is a ways away.

"We'd love to move up to a touring series, like an ASA deal or a truck deal or something like that, but it takes financing that we don't have," Jim White said."We're going to have to find some help."

In fact, the entire front hood of Jenny's No. 17 2001 Monte Carlo race car is devoted to finding sponsors.A huge classified ad that reads "Marketing Opportunities (785) 233-1000" adorns the hood.

White was an honor student at Topeka High, graduating in the top 5 percent of all Kansas students.She is pursuing a degree in business administration, with an emphasis on marketing.

When she finishes school, she'll take another look at her racing options.

"From there, I'm not really sure," she said.

In the meantime, she'll set her sights on another milestone at I-70, one that she hopes to reach very, very soon.

"I want to be the first female to win two," she said.
