Mr. James A. White

James White, Director of Development James White received both his BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. His career began with the Northern Virginia Planning District Commission in Arlington, VA designing and implementing a land use database for the 64,000 square mile Chesapeake Bay watershed from multi-spectral satellite imagery. He then became Acting Branch Chief of the Central Intelligence Agency's Digital Image Processing Branch. Since 1985, Mr. White was an engineering staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory working as project leader for IRS fraud detection project, Technical Project Leader for a Medicare Fraud Detection Project for the Health Care Finance Administration and Team Leader for the Image Processing Team of the Computer Research and Applications Group where he designed image segmentation algorithms to analyze Computed Tomography (CT) imagery to identify diseased lung tissue. His interests include pattern recognition, machine learning, and segmentation as applied to multi-spectral and medical imagery.

Jim White handles complex litigation in federal and state trial and appellate courts throughout the country and in arbitration proceedings.These matters have included trials of contract, fraud, fraudulent conveyance, antitrust, and dealer statute claims.Recent successful engagements include an award in a AAA arbitration denying all claims against the Firm's client, Bayer CropScience, in a contract and fraud case involving the sale of a business; a defense jury verdict in a Robinson-Patman price discrimination claim against the Firm's client, R.J. Reynolds; and a successful post-trial settlement of defendant class action fraudulent conveyance claim, in which the Firm represented the plaintiff.In addition, Jim has significant experience in patent and patent-related antitrust claims in various industries, including patent and related antitrust and unfair competition cases concerning drug patents and Food and Drug Administration regulatory issues for a major drug manufacturer.Jim also provides counseling and handles litigation in matters concerning contract termination and handles insurance coverage matters for policyholders.

Jim is a member of the trial bar of the Northern District of Illinois and the bars of the Seventh, Eighth, and Federal Circuits.
