J. Michael White , 58 , of 1324 N. Independence Court , Germantown Hills , and his wife , Christine , 51 , were apparently aboard their twin-engine Mitsubishi turboprop airplane when it crashed in a field near Cerrillos , a town of 350 about 20 miles southwest of Santa Fe.
Sgt. Michael Avilucea of the New Mexico State Police Department of Public Safety tentatively identified the Whites as the victims.
Avilucea said the Whites' plane crashed nose-first about 12 : 30 p.m. Sunday near Cerrillos. Two witnesses told police they saw the plane fall , hit the ground , explode and erupt into flames.
There is very little of it left , Avilucea said of the airplane.

White graduated from Bradley University , where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1965. In 1967 he earned an master's degree with a concentration in embryology and geneses. In 1971 he earned a doctorate of dental surgery at Washington University in St. Louis , where he also earned a master of science in orthodontics in 1973.
He was on the staff of the Peoria Medical School and a founding member of the Central Illinois Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies Team.
Survivors include four children , Katie , Adam , Gia , and Ian.
