Rachel graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2002 and joined OMS as a short-term missionary to Medellín, Colombia. She served for more than a year with a sports ministry, which reaches more than 1,000 youth and their families in the toughest neighborhoods of Medellín. She was also involved in prison ministry, which works in conjunction with Prison Fellowship International to minister to the inmates and their families. Her primary focus was at the Bellavista Prison.

Patrick and Rachel were married on September 2, 2006.
