Roberta Mays Wells, a resident of Peekskill since 1937, died October 25 at the Field Home-Holy Comforter Nursing Home in Yorktown.

She was 91.

Wells was born September 20, 1911 in Amelia Co., Virginia to George and Ardelia Randolph Mays.

She graduated from Russell Grove High School in Amelia Courthouse in Virginia.She worked as a self-employed beautician.

She was a member of the Park Street A.M.E. Zion Church in Peekskill, where she was a teacher's superintendent during the 1960's.She was also a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 8 in Ossining.

Wells also worked for the Eastern Star Chapter in Ossining and for many years for the Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps before retiring in the 1970's.

She enjoying helping her friends and playing bingo.

In 1936, she married Robert Wells in Peekskill.He died in May 1963.
