Ms. Monica Wells

Monica Wells, associate attorney with Bullivant Houser Bailey, has joined the resource development board of CARES Northwest, a child-abuse assessment program in Portland. The board raises funds, in-kind resources and community awareness, and matches contributors with opportunities to support the Portland-based advocacy program. Wells, whose practice is focused on defending personal injury claims, has performed pro bono legal work for the Children's Center of Clackamas County as well as CARES Northwest. She is a 2003 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law and is licensed in Oregon and Washington.

Ms. Wells focuses her practice on defending personal injury claims. Her litigation practice deals primarily with defending companies in toxic tort and product liability claims. She represents a variety of product manufacturers in asbestos litigation, including manufacturers of joint compound, valves, pumps, floor tile and furnaces.

Ms. Wells has experience in all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, dispositive motions and trial. She has taken and defended over 75 depositions. In September 2008, Ms. Wells second-chaired a four-week asbestos trial involving exposure to joint compound. The jury returned a unanimous verdict for the client - a joint compound manufacturer.
