    Miss Minnie Georgia Wells, age 104, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2003, at Blount Memorial Hospital.She was born on August 18, 1898 in Blount County, the daughter of the late Anderson Perry Wells and Amandia Ray Wells.She attended free school at Woods School, before it was consolidated with Lanier, she attended Maryville College from 1917-1918, East Tennessee State University and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1935.

    She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, was a retired school teacher, having taught at Forest Hill, Binfield and Lanier in the county system before joining the Maryville system at Sam Houston Elementary.She retired in 1965.After she retired, Miss Wells continued her work with children, teaching kindergarten at Home Avenue in Maryville before the state adopted kindergarten.

    Her two favorite sports were football and baseball.She was a devoted UT football fan, even attending some games and getting to travel to Atlanta to watch the Atlanta Braves.Her lifelong hobby was reading.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Rollo King and niece, Mabel Ray Whitlow.
