    ERSKINE W. WELLS

    Erskine Wells practices primarily in the areas of litigation and wills, trusts, and estates.He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an invitational professional association of lawyers skilled and experienced in the trial of cases.

    Erskine grew up in Jackson and received an undergraduate degree in Business Administration (B.S.C.) in 1939 and a law degree (L.L.B.) in 1946 from the University of Mississippi.At Ole Miss, he was a member and president of Omicron Delta Kappa, served as president of the Y.M.C.A., and was elected to membership in the Hall of Fame.While at Ole Miss, he was a member of the editorial board of the Mississippi Law Journal, and he served as president of Phi Delta Phi honorary legal fraternity.

    Erskine served in the United States Marine Corps from 1941 to 1946 and was discharged with the rank of Major.He spent approximately two years in the South Pacific and was awarded the Navy Cross decoration and also the Silver Star decoration.

    Erskine has two sons, Erskine W. Wells, Jr., and Reverend Andrew P. Wells.

    Erskine has been very active in community affairs, having served as a director of Trustmark National Bank and as a director of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.He is the past president of the North Jackson Kiwanis Club and a past commander of Post No. 110 of the American Legion; and he served as district chairman of the Hiawatha District of the Boy Scouts of America.

    He has served in various positions of leadership within the legal profession, having served as president of the Jackson Junior Bar Association, as president of the Hinds County Bar Association, and as president of the Mississippi State Bar.He has been active in the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, having served as president in 1974.Erskine has been active in the International Association of Defense Counsel, having served on the Executive Committee of that organization.

    He is a ruling elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson and a past moderator of the Presbytery of Central Mississippi, Presbyterian Church in the United States.He is one of the founding trustees of Reformed Theological Seminary, and currently serves on the Seminary's Executive Committee.
