    Arnie Wellman has been employed by United Parcel Service for 33 years. As corporate vice president of public affairs, domestic/international, he is responsible for all worldwide government affairs activities for UPS among the more than 220 countries and territories it serves.

    Wellman built his career in UPS operations where he spent six years in Northeast hub operations, one year in customer service, one year in human resources, labor relations and two years as manager of package operations for the Virginia/Maryland area.

    Wellman currently serves on the board of directors of the Transportation Research Board, US ASEAN Business Council, the National Center for APEC Business Council, the Public Affairs Council, the National Bureau of Asian Research and the United States Council for International Business.

    In addition to tenure with United Parcel Service, Wellman served three terms (1977-82) as a state legislator from Connecticut's 76th assembly district. He was born and raised in Connecticut and presently lives in Fairfax Station, Va.

    October 21, 2005 -- In a letter to Department of Transportation Secretary Normal Mineta, Arnold Wellman, UPS Vice President Corporate Public Affairs, Domestic/International, wrote to "express UPS's support of the Postal Service's request that the Department of Transportation undertake a comprehensive review of the rate-setting processes used to establish the international mail air transportation rates paid by Postal Service.
