Jennifer Welch officially named artistic director of Cookeville Children's Theatre

COOKEVILLE -- Jennifer Welch has worked with the Cookeville Children's Theatre for five years as a board member, choreographer and director.So it seems only fitting that the current CCT board recently named her artistic director.

"I began working with CCT about five years ago as a board member," Welch said.

Also in 2008, Jennifer Welch has officially been tapped as the artistic director for the Cookeville Children's Theatre.

She had worked with CCT for five years prior as a board member, choreographer and director before being given the title.

"I am now the official contact for CCT, and I will act as spokesperson for CCT's artistic purpose. I will oversee all productions and workshops as well as direct shows for CCT. I will work with the board of directors to plan our seasons by researching and recommending play selections and procuring scripts," said Welch.

The other two cast members, Jennifer Welch and Chris Malone, are both Cookeville natives who worked under Putman as students in various productions in the community.

Jennifer has studied theatre, music and dance at Belmont University in Nashville and at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, where she is pursuing a degree in theatre and drama.She also serves on the Cookeville Children's Theatre board of directors and has been involved in more than 25 community productions in Cookeville and Nashville.

She has also worked professionally with the Planted Productions Theatre Company at the Darkhorse Theatre in Nashville.
