Rainer Weiland, PhD, is senior manager of the physical failure analysis department at Infineon Technologies in Regensburg, Germany.He joined Siemens in 1986 and assumed responsibilities in its semiconductor division in 1995.Weiland received a diploma and PhD in chemistry from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, in 1977 and 1983, respectively.His doctoral thesis was in the field of optical spectroscopy of oriented molecules.
