   Alex has over 30 years' experience of investment and pensions and joined Gissings as Head of Investment in May 2006.He has a degree from Southampton University and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
   
   Alex has held senior positions with several asset management companies.He spent nine years at Gartmore, where he developed and managed the Pooled Pensions business and was a Principal of the firm.At Fidelity, he was responsible for the sales, marketing and client management of the defined contribution pensions business in the UK.He was a director of Schroder Investment Management and held client director positions in both their UK and international institutional businesses.He was responsible for European sales and marketing of alternative strategies at First Quadrant, and before joining Gissings he was a member of a specialist pensions team at Standard & Poors, which was responsible for developing ratings-based services for trustees and asset managers.
   
   Alex is a frequent speaker at industry conferences.

   Standard & Poor's, a provider of independent research, ratings and indices, has appointed Alex Weiland as Head of Business Development for its newly established European pension operations.He will be responsible for the marketing and sales of Standard & Poor's pension services, aimed at helping trustees of defined benefit schemes understand and benchmark their credit and investment risks effectively.Mr Weiland has over 20 years' experience in a range of senior positions at major investment houses.His former roles include Head of Pooled Pensions at Gartmore, where he was a Principal of the firm, head of Fidelity's UK defined contribution pensions business and Director of Schroder Investment Management, where he held senior client director positions in both the UK and international institutional business divisions.Most recently, he was Director of European Sales and Marketing for First Quadrant.Mr Weiland is based in London.
