    Michael WeidrichMichael's artistic vision is a fusion of ancient designs and modern technology.Through years of studying mythology, world religions and eastern philosophy, Michael infuses his artwork with a sense of spirituality and transcendence.

    "My mandalas are each a tapestry of a cathexis; weaving together thought and idea, space and time, the inner soul and the outer vessel.Like the circle that surrounds each mandala, it has no beginning and has no end, it is eternal."

    Michael holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Computer Graphics from Syracuse University and an Advanced Certificate in Educational Computing with a concentration in Digital Art & Photography from the College of St. Rose.He is currently pursuing a certificate in Not-For-Profit Business Management.

    Michael is the Executive Director of the Lark Street Business Improvement District, Gallery Manager of the Romaine Brooks Gallery at the Capital District Gay & Lesbian Community Center, and the Founder & Coordinator of 1st Friday: Albany.

    It was Lark Street Business Improvement District Executive Director Michael Weidrich who first suggested in 2006 that Albany borrow the First Friday concept, which had been used successfully in other places around the country, including the Saratoga County village of Ballston Spa.Weidrich was on the board of the then-brand-new Upstate Artists Guild had just become manager of Romaine Brooks - the gallery space of the Capital District Gay and Lesbian Community Center - and sensed a critical mass with the arrival of Amrose + Sable.
