Mr. Weidner enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to school and graduated in 1947 from Clarion High School.
He retired in 1989 from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture where he was a supervisor and inspector for the Bureau of Plant Industry in the Central Pennsylvania Region. Following his retirement, he continued working as a consultant for Christmas tree growers.
Mr. Weidner was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, where he was a former member of the church council, having served on several committees, and was a member of the Kerygama Bible Study Group of the church.
He was a member of the Parkinson's Support Group of Montoursville.
Mr. Weidner was a former commander of the Lycoming Yacht Club. He loved sailing and enjoyed sailboat races, and was a member of the Ships Co. of the Flagship Niagara on Lake Erie.
He was an avid gardener and hunter, enjoyed camping and loved making wine from his orchards.
Mr. Weidner was married Aug. 7, 1947, to the former Martha L. Krauss, who survives. They were married for 56 years.
