    George Wehrli, Vice Commander

Happy New Year to all! OH where OH where has this last year gone? The year of 2005 has gone by the wayside and now we are concentrating on 2006. So many accomplishments have occurred in 2005 that it is impossible to list them all, so I won't try. The most important item is that your health and the health of your family members continue to be good. Membership is of most importance with the 2005 membership cards expiring and the benefits of membership ending if individuals have not purchased their 2006 card. We ask you, our dedicated members, to call members who have not renewed as yet and convince them to rejoin. In these times of "War on Terrorism" it is important for members of the American Legion Family to back our President of the United States and the Congress in their leadership of this great country. We have a good voice through the leadership in our organization and the numbers of our membership speak loudly when we can say that The Florida American Legion has nearly 130,000 members and that Nationally we have nearly 3,000,000 members. Please help us with our membership program, Boys State, Oratorical, Baseball and all of our other programs. More and more injured veterans are returning home needing our help as American Legion Family members. Please due your part by participating in post level programs or by volunteering at your local VA Hospital or clinic.
