The University of Colombo is the premier tertiary institution in Sri Lanka and conducts undergraduate and graduate courses in law. The alliance between the two institutions was initiated during a visit by Monash Law staff, led by Associate Professor Dr Wickrema Weerasooria, in September 2000. They met with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo and Dean of the Law School.
Dr Weerasooria signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Monash with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Professor Savitri Goonesekere (both pictured). -
