Stacey first came to the Department of Safety Science on a program called a Career Start Traineeship in 1994.Traineeships are "apprenticeships" that run for twelve months. As part of the Traineeship, Stacey was required to attend the Learning Lab Computer Training Centre twice a week for off-the-job training for nine months and was required to work at the Department of Safety Science 3 days per week for on-the-job training for nine months. In the final three months of the Traineeship, Stacey was required to work five days per week.Stacey was highly commended in both on-the-job and off-the-job training and finished in the top five of her class.During her off-the-job training, Stacey learnt to touch type (using the Typequick program), reaching 49 words per minute at 98% accuracy; she also learnt an amazing amount of office tasks which have been of great use to her in her work.
Stacey has moved up through the ranks within the School going from trainee to the School's Administrative Assistant and Assistant to the Head of School, and in 2006 took over the position of Administrative Officer while the incumbent was on long service leave prior to retirement. In August, 2007, Stacey was appointed as the School Manager.
Stacey loves dolphins and whales, particularly killer whales (those of you who have visited her office would realise this). She enjoys water skiing, dolphin watching, listening to music, reading and spending quality time with her family and friends.
