Dr. A. Earle Weeks

Race organizers selected the Circle of Life as the recipient of its funds after developing a strong relationship with Dr. Earle Weeks, a physician and founder of the Family Cancer Center.

Family Cancer Center founder A. Earle Weeks says the office will provide care in an underserved community.

"We are very strategic in the selection and development of our locations," he says.

"We find that opening satellite offices helps us gauge the amount of need certain communities have and provide them with care, while keeping overhead costs at a minimum," said Family Cancer Center founder A. Earle Weeks in a statement.

The Munford office will be located at 76 Doctor's Drive.G.

Weeks founded the Family Cancer Center with the understanding that cancer affects the whole family.Having practiced in the fields of Medical Oncology and Hematology for nearly 20 years, Dr. Weeks is dedicated to working with cancer patients to ensure that their treatment includes services and programs that help their family and friends establish a community of care and support.

With the goal of providing cutting edge medical care, Dr. Weeks is making a major commitment to participate in Phase II and Phase III clinical trials in a formal manner and the Family Cancer Center currently employs two full-time oncology nurses and data-managers devoted to clinical cancer research.

Dr. Weeks is the married father of two teenagers and, when time permits, his extra-medical passion is running---and not just down the hospital corridors.Dr. Weeks has completed sixteen marathon races with a goal to run in every state in the union.Dr. Weeks is married to Dr. Melissa Hudson, a professor of Pediatric Oncology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

"We've always wanted to get into the northern Mississippi area because it's been underserved," said Dr. A. Earle Weeks, founder of Family Cancer Center.

"Oxford is an up and coming city," he said."It has 15,000 people, it's a university town, it has a large drawing area and it's got a great hospital (Baptist Memorial Healthcare-North Mississippi) that's well-managed."

Family Cancer Center moved in that direction with the opening four years ago of an office in Collierville and two years ago with its Olive Branch, Miss., facility, he said.

Weeks wanted to wait until he could get a full-time physician before opening in Oxford, he said.Other center physicians also will make visits to the Oxford office, Weeks said.The office will also start with three nurses and two receptionists, he said.
