Cellar Live was founded in 2001 by musician/producer/jazz club owner Cory Weeds.When Weeds purchased The Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club in August, 2000 he immediately started assembling some recording gear to preserve the incredible music that was being performed on stage every night.
In July of 2001, Weeds had accumulated literally dozens of tapes of spectacular performances and he began listening to them and selecting the best material for a compilation CD.

Weeds was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia by a musical family.He attended Capilano College from 1991 to 1994 before heading to the prestigious music program at The University of North Texas on a scholarship.Although his experience at UNT was invaluable, Weeds quickly realized that he wanted to play and perform and moved home after a year to pursue his career as a professional musician.Weeds joined the popular Vancouver band, People Playing Music, where he recorded his first CD Sette.It was with PPM that Weeds started touring; the band toured Canada twice, Italy and The United States.This experience inspired Weeds to start his own instrumental funk band - Crash.
