Mattie started out in politics as a field organizer for the John Kerry campaign for President in 2004. She went on to be a Regional Director for the Martin O'Malley campaign for Governor in 2006. As Regional Director Mattie was in charge of all events and planning for her Region as well as all volunteer activities.

After the Governor was successfully elected she joined the MSI team where she handles all aspects of registration, on-site support, pre and post-event procedures and oversees creation and coordination for all associated event collateral.
