Tammy focuses her practice on class action litigation and products liability defense.She has represented defendants in class action cases related to consumer fraud, product liability and medical monitoring and has served as national counsel for corporations in class action cases in federal and state courts around the country.Tammy recently served as trial counsel for Lorillard Tobacco Company in a statewide class action trial in New Orleans, Louisiana, successfully defeating plaintiffs' request for medical monitoring relief.Her briefing efforts helped to defeat certification both in trial courts and on appeal in New York, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Utah, Illinois, Kansas and Missouri.
Tammy has also defended numerous individual product liability cases throughout the country, including California, Ohio, Nevada, Illinois, Oregon and Oklahoma.In her roles as national counsel in class actions and individual cases, she has managed and participated in all aspects of pre-trial and trial work, including coordinating discovery, developing defense strategies, taking and defending depositions, developing and preparing expert and company witnesses, extensive motion practice and appellate briefing.
Tammy is the Administrative Partner of the firm's San Francisco office.She is a member of SHB's Associates Committee, the Women's Management Council and the San Francisco office's Business Development Committee.She is also actively involved in the firm's mentoring program and recruiting program, having served as a supervising attorney for many of the firm's summer interns and currently heading the summer associate program for the San Francisco office.Tammy is a member of the California and Missouri Bars, the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of San Francisco.Tammy is the author of "The Functional Effect of Eliminating Gender Bias in Jury Selection: A Critique and Analysis of J.E.B. v. Alabama" 48 Oklahoma Law Review 173 (1995).
