Blanche Watrous WALL , N.J. - Blanche Greene Watrous , Ph.D. , 91 , died Wednesday , Sept. 19 , 2001 , at Sunrise Assisted Living in Wall.She was a professor of anthropology at East Carolina University from 1964 to 1976.After her retirement from ECU , she started an anthropology department at the Kansai University in Hirakata City , Japan , where she taught until she was 80.She received both her undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Northwestern University.Born and raised in Cleveland , Tenn. , she lived name=DESCRIPTION >.

WALL , N.J. - Blanche Greene Watrous , Ph.D. , 91 , died Wednesday , Sept. 19 , 2001 , at Sunrise Assisted Living in Wall.She was a professor of anthropology at East Carolina University from 1964 to 1976.After her retirement from ECU , she started an anthropology department at the Kansai University in Hirakata City , Japan , where she taught until she was 80.She received both her undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Northwestern University.Born and raised in Cleveland , Tenn. , she lived in Highland Park , Ill. , Greenville and Japan before moving to Wall Township last year.
She was predeceased by her husband of 31 years , Robert M. Watrous , M.D. , and her son William M. Watrous , Ph.D..She is survived by two sons , Philip J. Watrous of New York City and Richard G. Watrous of Glendale , Calif. ; daughter , Alice J. Dutton of Monmouth Beach , N.J. ; nine grandchildren ; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be offered 2 : 30 p.m. Monday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Cleveland , Tenn. , where five generations of her family have been baptized.In lieu of flowers , her family requests that donations be made to the ECU Foundation.
