Newell Washburn, MDA native of Delaware, Newell Washburn attended the University of Michigan Medical School graduating in 1971.He pursued his internship and his first year of residency at the University of Miami in Florida.Upon completion of his first year of residency, Dr. Washburn took a three-year hiatus at which time he worked for an obstetrician/gynecologist and then for a lawyer.You see, most people don't realize that Dr. Washburn also has a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and that, during this three-year hiatus, he was trying to determine which profession he was going to pursue, medicine or law.Obviously, he chose medicine and returned to Delaware to complete his residency at the Wilmington Medical Center, completing his training in 1979.He then worked in private practice for 9 years prior to joining Bayside Health as a physician and partner in 1988.When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Washburn enjoys spending time with his wife Hilda and their four children, reading and horseback riding.Dr. Washburn sees patients in the Lewes and Georgetown offices and has privileges at Beebe Medical Center.
