Mike Walz, a spokesman for Hensarling, told the Herald-Press this morning that the City of Palestine, Anderson County and the City of Frankston will be receiving the funds through two federal programs.
The City of Palestine is set to receive more than $27,000 in grant monies, with Anderson County scheduled to get more than $15,000, Walz said.
The City of Frankston will receive approximately $700, he added.

"Instead of imposing a one size-fits all solution, the Block Grants Program allows local law enforcement the flexibility to direct funding to the areas where each community needs it the most," Walz said."The program offers a variety of options from hiring new police officers to purchasing new equipment."
The grants are awarded through the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) and Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) within the U.S. Department of Justice.
Walz said he was uncertain when the Anderson County entities may be receiving the federal funds.
