Conti, Walters and other distinguished alumni were being honored at U-E's "Having Made a Difference" dinner.

Some graduates also visited the high school during the day to talk to students about their experiences, including Robert Conti, an international operations management and industrial relations consultant, and Dr. John T. Walters, the founder of Cardiology Associates and the former chief of cardiology at Lourdes Hospital.

Walters still chuckles when he remembers earning an 86 on an intermediate algebra Regents.
"That's disgusting," his teacher told him."You're a much better student than that."
He took the half-year course again and wound up scoring 100.
Much has changed at the school in the years since Conti and Walters graduated, including more courses, better facilities and more technology, such as computers, they said.
