Lori Walter, the new treasurer for Tryon Little Theater, says she wants to provide as much information as possible to make sure the organization's finances are well understood.
...
She says she plans to create detailed financial reports that will break down expenses for each production.
Walter says it's important that all board members be well acquainted with TLT's financial condition and it's her job to provide them the data.
Walter says she became accustomed to receiving detailed financial statements after serving as a board member and president for Ballet Spartanburg.
"You knew exactly where the money was coming from and where it went," she said.
She plans to bring the same level of detailed financial information to TLT, if not more so.
"At first I may go overboard.I might have to be too detailed to make sure all the information is available," says Walter, who has also served as treasurer for the Landrum Chamber of Commerce and the Children's Little Theater in Tryon.
Some TLT members complained that the financial statements provided by former treasurer Kirt Flynn were not sufficiently detailed. But Flynn says he has repeatedly kept the board apprised of the organization's declining financial situation.
Walter says she's "thrilled" that Flynn is remaining on the TLT board. She says Flynn will help finish the current fiscal year, and she plans to start working with him soon to go over the finances.
She says she's glad that if something comes up he will be there to help her.
"He's been a fabulous asset for TLT.He will help me so much," she says.
Walter adds that she thinks it's a good sign that TLT members like Flynn are staying with the organization even through a recent heated dispute over its direction.
"I think it speaks volumes about TLT that people are staying with the organization.Nobody's walking away from it," she said.
