Lisa Walker - International Marketing and Business Development Specialist
Lisa Walker is the principal of MarketAbilities, an international marketing and business development consultancy.She brings more than 20 years of experience in the fields of brand building, message delivery, trade promotion, and market entry to clients worldwide with an emphasis on sustainable and environmentally responsible business initiatives.
Ms. Walker began her career as a campaign director and political strategist in the 1980's.At the Department of Commerce during the Clinton Administration, she worked on economic development and international trade issues while providing planning and logistical support for Cabinet level trade missions around the world to places such as Hong Kong, India, Qatar, Canada, Italy, Austria, Slovakia, Kenya, Cote d'Ivoire, Namibia and South Africa.Her appointment culminated in assignment to Johannesburg, South Africa, where she directed the Ronald H. Brown Commercial Center, promoting US and Southern African trade partnerships as well as corporate social responsibility programs for US companies active in the region.
Recent and current clients include Building Green TV, Tasker Products, Pierce Promotions and Event Management, the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds, the Latin American Venture Capital Association, and Measurable Results, LLC.As a former small business owner and importer, she traded in artifacts and home furnishings from sub-Saharan Africa.Her company, Ubuntu Imports, was built on a fair trade model.Ubuntu is a Bantu language concept meaning shared humanity, interconnectedness and responsibility.
Ms. Walker has a Master's degree in public policy from the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.She is a former adjunct professor of American government.
