24 June 2008 - Alan Waight - it is with much regret that we announce the recent passing of Alan Waight, who has been a long standing member of the Club from the mid 70s.He served as Club Referee, Bar Manager, Social Secretary, sorted out the printing of the web site for the non Internet generation, was always available at the bar on Saturdays in recent years to collect the various monies and took great pride in writing the fixtures on the board.In recent years Alan had suffered from ill health, but that did not stop him from attending the Club on virtually every Saturday as one of the resident "Old Gits" to cheer on the various teams and to offer his opinions in the bar.Alan was truly a Carshalton Club man, and was recognised as such by being awarded both the Carshalton Mug and the Carshalton Quaich.His wake was held at the Club last Monday.
We send on our condolences and best wishes to his wife Jill and the family at this time.Alan was a fixture at the Club and will be greatly missed by his many friends for his enthusiasm, patience and strength of character in the way he coped with his illness.God bless you Alan.
