Phil Wahl is Senior Vice President and Augusta City President for First Citizens Bank.  As the Augusta City President, he is responsible for the growth and development of the bank’s Commercial Banking client relationships.  He also leads and directs the bank’s participation in charitable and community activities in Augusta and serves as the bank’s Senior Commercial Banker.

A native of Augusta and one of nine children, Phil is a graduate of Augusta State University’s School of Business.  He has served in a number of management capacities during his 22-year banking career in the Augusta Area, including Branch Manager, Private Banking Manager, Consumer Banking Manager, Business Banking Manager and Market President.

Phil is very active in local civic affairs.  He is immediate past Chairman of the Augusta Downtown Development Authority and Chairman of the Augusta Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau and recently served as Chairman of the Leadership Augusta Class of 2004. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Augusta State University School of Business Board of Advisors. He previously served on the boards of Augusta Tomorrow, the Morris Museum of Art, the University Healthcare Foundation, the American Red Cross and Augusta-Richmond County Community Partnership for Children and Families, Inc.  He most recently represented the Augusta Region as Region Chair and State Host for the 2004-2006 Georgia Red Carpet Tour.  He is a 2001 graduate of Leadership Augusta, past Chairman of Junior Achievement of the CSRA, Inc. 1998-2000 and past President of the Augusta State University Alumni Association 1996-1998.

Phil is married to the former Catherine Ruth Wade of Augusta.  Phil and Catherine have two children, Olivia and India.
