RIP David Philip, Publisher February 17th, 2009 by Ben - Editor Renowned South African publisher David Philip has died in Cape Town, according to Brian Wafawarowa, head of New Africa Books, into which David Philip Publishers was merged at the turn of the century.

"There are no explosive revelations in the book which Bob had co-authored with Professor Tim Noakes and Helen Moffet," said New Africa Books Managing Director Brian Wafawarowa.

"No proofs of the book have gone missing, nor does the book contain any explosive revelations about cricket and match-fixing.The book is the expression of Bob's philosophy of playing and coaching cricket, and is the product of a lifetime's involvement with the game," he added.

Brian Wafawarowa, founder of New African Books, general and educational publishing house in South Africa noted that piracy and instability in school curricula have contributed to the dire state of the publishing industry in Africa, which is mainly dependent on educational books.
