CARL WADDELL has been a police officer since 1980 when he started with the Tustin Police Department.At Tustin PD he worked patrol until he was assigned to the Detective Bureau in February 1985.As a TPD detective, Carl was assigned to various caseloads, including Auto Theft, Burglary, Arson, Sexual Assault, Robbery and Homicide.
In 1990 Carl joined the Orange County District Attorney's Office Bureau of Investigation.During his tenure at the District Attorney's Office, he has worked a variety of assignments, including Child Support, Warrants, Welfare Fraud, Felony Panel, Insurance Fraud, Homicide, and Family Protection.He spent six years in an undercover assignment with the Orange County Auto Theft Task Force (OCATT), a multi-agency regional task force targeting professional auto thieves and auto theft rings through out Southern California.
Carl is doing his second tour of duty in the Insurance Fraud Unit at the DA's Office.From late 2004 until April 2006 he supervised the Workers'Compensation/Auto Insurance Fraud Unit, where he evaluated all of the incoming referrals and investigative case files sent to the DA's Office for prosecution.He is currently supervising the Gatekeepers Insurance Fraud Team (GIFT), a unit targeting providers in the Workers' Compensation and auto insurance arenas.
