Biographical Sketch:Ms. Wachler received her Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work at Michigan State University in 1983.She later trained in Atlanta at The Atlanta Area Child Guidance Clinic in a post graduate family therapy externship.After working for several years in both hospital and out patient clincal mental health settings, Ms. Wachler began a private practice in Atlanta serving families in need of psychotherapy to deal with medically related challenges.
Ms. Wachler's practice during the 1980's focused in the arena of Women's Health, consulting with various treatment programs in the Atlanta area with significant focus in the treatment of eating disorders and addiction medicine.
The focus of Ms. Wachler's practice in the 1990's grew to include treatment of chronic illness, endocrine related disorders, trauma recovery, and end of life care.Simultaneously, Ms. Wachler trained in psychomotor therapy, an experiential modality helpful in working with emotional release and somatic difficulties.She receive her certification in 1994.
Most recently Ms. Wachler has trained with The National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine in a variety of settings most directed for treatment of medical and behavioral disorders.
Ms. Wachler joined The Marcus Institute as a contract provider in January of 2000 and became a full time member of the team in January 2002. Research Summary:At The Marcus Institute, Ms. Wachler provides assessment and evaluation services for the developmental center as well as counseling and case management services.Additionally, Ms. Wachler's work includes the coordination and service delivery of family assessments for the State of Georgia's First Placement Best Placement Program.She is currently working towards the expansion of these services to foster care residents throughout the Atlanta Area in effort to enhance service delivery to special needs children currently in foster care.Contact Information:Susan J.
