Albert VogtAlbert Friesen Vogt , 93 , died Oct 8 , 2001 , in Hillsboro.Born Aug. 12 , 1908 , he was the son of Gerhard and Maria Friesen Vogt.In 1910 , the family moved to Oklahoma , settling on a farm six miles north of Enid.At the age of 16 , he accepted Christ as his personal Savior.He was baptized and became a member of Enid Mennonite Brethren Church.He transferred his church membership to Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in 1991 after moving to Hillsboro.On Sept. 6 , 1931 , he married Bertha Ann Schafer in Enid , Okla..They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.In 1927 , he began working at Pillsbury Mills , Inc..Following several promotions he became superintendent at the flour mill.When the plant closed in 1968 , he took an early retirement.He began selling stocks , bonds , and mutual funds.In 1975 , he and his wife began managing a greenhouse until 1983.He served as Sunday school teacher , moderator , and ordained deacon.He enjoyed singing in the choir and the men's chorus.He also enjoyed fishing , camping and cooking out at the lake , repair and carpentry work , golfing , and working in his yard.He was preceded in death by his parents , six sisters , and three brothers.Survivors include his wife of Hillsboro ; daughter , Edith and husband Arnold Regier of rural Marion ; sister , Eva Baker of Wasco , Calif. ; three grandchildren ; and six great-grandchildren.
