    John Viton is associate professor of oboe.He holds the DMA, MMA, and MM from Yale University, and the BM from Bowling Green State University.Viton teaches applied oboe, music theory and music reading, and is music theory coordinator.He is an active clinician and soloist, and has performed with numerous chamber music ensembles and orchestras throughout the United States.Each summer, Viton is an artist/teacher at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan.

    Dr. John Viton (Class of 1971) associate professor of music, Morehead State University, Morehead, Ky., since 1988.As well as teaching oboe performance, music theory and reading, Dr. Viton is coordinator of the music theory program, Baroque performance practices and chamber music coach.He presently is oboist with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, Huntington Symphony Orchestra, the Baird Winds faculty woodwind quintet, and faculty member at Blue Lake Music Festival.

    Prior to Morehead State, he was assistant professor of music at Columbus College, Columbus, Ga., and principal oboe, Columbus Symphony Orchestra.He has participated in the Festival International d'Evian, Evian, France, the Bach Aria Festival and Institute, State University of New York, and the Yale Summer School of Music and Art.

    He obtained his bachelor of music degree at Bowling Green State University, and his master's and doctorate at Yale University.
