Sandra was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota.In September 1967, she graduated from Denfeld High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force.Following basic training, she went direct duty to McChord AFB, Washington as a dental assistant.As the years unfolded, Sandra went from dental assistant to dental hygienist to, ultimately, dental manager.As her job assignments changed, her military rank kept pace; from Airman to Staff Sergeant to Master Sergeant to, finally, the top enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9).

In 1995, after 28 years of military service, Sandra retired.For the next four years, she enjoyed retired life by traveling and getting re-acquainted with family and friends.

In January 2000, Sandra started work, as a temporary hire, with the University of Nevada, School of Medicine, General Practice (Dental) Residency.Initially she was the Front Office Manager then took over duties as the Back Office Manager (Lead Dental Assistant) and, finally, became a Financial Management Assistant for the Residency.Sandra decided to leave the Residency in February 2002.
