Poughkeepsie resident John A. Vita Jr., a financial professional with AXA Advisors, took part in the AXA Equitable Special Olympics Gold Golf Tournament, which raised more than $8,000 for the 2005 Special Olympics New York.

The tournament was at the Links at Union Vale.The games took place at Hofstra University on Long Island.

Vita, who has been in the financial services business for more than 35 years, is an active member of the Dutchess County community.He is a member of the Italian Center in Poughkeepsie, trustee for St. Mary's Church and past president of AXA Equitable's National Agents Forum.
