Mercer County resident, Mark L. Violi has written a stage play titled ROEBLING: THE STORY OF THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE.The play is based on the actual events surrounding Trenton's most famous family, the Roeblings, as they endeavor to construct the Brooklyn Bridge amidst the Industrial Revolution of the late 1800s.
An experienced actor and member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Mr. Violi was inspired by both the local history and human drama surrounding the story."I don't think enough people know the adversity the Roeblings faced and the tremendous effort put forth to construct the Brooklyn Bridge.More than anything, this is a great human story; one I thought deserved a dramatic telling."
ROEBLING was begun in September, 2003 and has since been very well received. In conjunction with Kelsey Theatre, Mr. Violi was invited to hold a staged reading of the play in August of 2004.

Mr. Violi hopes the interest that has been generated to this point will soon lead to a full-scale production in either professional theatre, local venues or educational institutions. He invites any parties interested to attend the reading or inquire directly to him at 609-631-4407.
