The man, part of a two-man crew working on the tower near SR 83 and Detroit Road, was able to connect to a nearby safety line and eventually was lowered to the ground, said Joe Ventura, a general manager for Safety Controls Technology.

The worker was taken to St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake as a precaution and was released, according to Ventura.Federal regulations prevented him from releasing the worker's name, he said.
Ventura said the two men were on the scaffold when it "malfunctioned" and one of them slipped off.
Once attached to the safety line, the man was raised back up to the scaffold and then lowered to the ground, Ventura said.
Ventura said the rescue effort took seven minutes.
Crews employed by Pittsburgh-based Keystone Painting are sandblasting the 192-foot water tower and will paint the structure, Ventura said.
