One of the keys to fundraising success for the Fabulous at 50 Group has been its recruitment strategy, member Linda Vaughan pointed out.
Each of the women involved in the group works hard to coax family members, friends and colleagues to lace up their jogging or walking shoes for the event.
"We've had lots of really great support," she said.
"People are very, very giving.They just don't always have an outlet or an organized event for them to support."
Vaughan, a travel agent at Vision 2000 Travel Group, will miss this year's walk because she'll be out of the country on business.
But that hasn't stopped her from encouraging family members and others to participate.
"Some people are actually daunted by the five kilometres, but it's not particularly challenging," she said.
"It's a fun day.
