Mike is a Senior Associate at Magnusson Klemencic Associates of Seattle, Washington.Through years of project experience and technical committee work he has developed special expertise in seismic design, foundation analysis and design, and development of codes and standards.After years of involvement in the development of both seismic design and foundation design requirements (and associated commentary and examples) for the NEHRP Recommended Provisions, ASCE 7, ASCE 31, ASCE 41, and the International Building Code (IBC), Mike led the effort to rewrite Chapter 18 of the 2009 IBC.

The applications were reviewed by Kenneth Elwood; assistant professor of Structural Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Youssef Hashash, assistant professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Illinois, and Michael Valley, a structural engineer with Magnusson Klemencic Associates in Seattle.
