Mayor Mike Kadas will at Saturday's Story Time at the Missoula Public Library at 10:00 a.m., KPAX's Jill Valley will read at Southgate Mall's Story Time at noon, and other events are planned for Barnes and Noble, University Center and Albertsons at Russell Square.

Jill Valley has been on the Western Montana news scene since 1989.After graduating from Washington State University in 1988, Jill first enjoyed an internship at KAPP-TV in Yakima, Washington then landed her first television job at WOWL-TV in Florence, Alabama.She headed west in 1989 when she became a reporter and anchor in Missoula, Montana.In 1992, Jill became the main anchor and she has continued her work at that position for the past decade.She is also the station's Assistant News Director.

Jill's been named Montana's Broadcaster of the Year twice and has won journalism awards for writing and reporting.She currently produces a weekly feature called "The Valley Report" highlighting unique people and stories in Western Montana.

Jill has twice won broadcasting awards for public service.Her volunteer efforts focus primarily on the Missoula Food Bank.She has also contributed a lot of her time to organizations that support area families.Jill also can often be found volunteering at local schools promoting literacy.

She enjoys here free time in Missoula and spending time with her sportscaster husband, Todd.

When it comes to fashion, the ladies are watching anchorwoman Jill Valley of KPAX-TV.The reigning champion said she tries to be stylish, not trendy.After last year's win, Valley says she could feel more eyes watching her wardrobe.In a blatant attempt to divert that attention, she points to other women in the community who she says are more deserving.True enough, there were more than 40 other women nominated.

Valley, an avid community volunteer and local host of the annual Labor Day telethon for muscular dystrophy, said she knows she's somewhat of a celebrity in town.In return, she tries to "act like a grown-up" and be a role model for the kids.
